Under the Swachhata Hi Seva Hai campaign initiated by the Government of India, NSS volunteers organized a successful plantation drive aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and cleanliness. The drive was held on 24-9-24 and enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.Guided by Principal Simi Johal, the event was meticulously planned and executed, reflecting the institution’s commitment to environmental conservation. NSS Coordinator Prof. Sonia played a pivotal role in mobilizing volunteers and coordinating the activities throughout the day. The plantation drive was conducted in collaboration with Eco Club in-charge Dr. Baljit Kaur and Mr. Suresh Kumar, who provided invaluable support in selecting suitable saplings and preparing the planting sites. The volunteers planted a variety of trees, including native species that are crucial for maintaining the local ecosystem. Before the plantation began, a brief orientation was held where participants were educated about the significance of trees in combating climate change, improving air quality, and enhancing biodiversity. This session underscored the campaign’s theme of cleanliness and the importance of green cover in urban environments.
The volunteers worked diligently, digging pits, planting saplings, and ensuring proper care was taken to secure the growth of each tree. Their dedication not only contributed to beautifying the campus but also aimed at fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature among students and the local community.
The drive concluded with a pledge taken by all participants to actively engage in environmental protection and cleanliness efforts. They committed to nurturing the planted saplings and continuing the efforts of the Swachhata Hi Seva Hai campaign beyond this initiative.
The plantation drive organized by NSS volunteers was a resounding success, embodying the spirit of community service and environmental stewardship. The collective efforts of the volunteers, under the guidance of Principal Simi Johal and faculty members, reinforced the importance of cleanliness and sustainability in our daily lives. This initiative not only aimed at enhancing the green cover but also inspired participants to become proactive advocates for a cleaner, greener future.
