Industry Visit : National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), Nangal
On January 27, 2025, SDS Government College, Jadla, SBS Nagar, organized an industrial visit to National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), Nangal, under the Higher Education Punjab initiative “HE-60 Industrial Visit and Exposure.” A group of 50 students participated in this educational tour, accompanied by Prof. Neha Rani and Prof. Sonia & Prof. Paramjeet Kaur.
he successful execution of this educational tour was made possible by the dedicated efforts of Principal Geetanjali Sharma and Vice Principal Priya Bawa. Their meticulous planning and coordination ensured a seamless experience for students, covering transportation, safety measures, and overall trip management. Their commitment to providing practical learning experiences reflects the college’s dedication to holistic education and career-oriented exposure
The primary objective of this industrial visit was to provide students with first hand exposure to the fertilizer manufacturing process and its significance in the agricultural sector. NFL, Nangal, is one of the leading public-sector enterprises in India, specializing in the production of chemical fertilizers, which play a crucial role in enhancing soil fertility and agricultural productivity.
Upon arrival, the students and faculty members were warmly welcomed by the officials of NFL, who provided a brief introduction to the company’s operations and its contribution to the agricultural sector. The visit commenced with a guided tour of the production unit, where students observed the various stages of fertilizer manufacturing, including raw material processing, ammonia production, urea synthesis, granulation, and packaging. They also learned about the critical role of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in fertilizers and how these essential nutrients support plant growth.
The students were particularly intrigued by the large-scale industrial machinery and the advanced chemical processes involved in fertilizer production. They were given insights into the quality control measures, environmental sustainability initiatives, and safety protocols followed at the plant. The industry professionals also discussed the importance of innovation and technology in ensuring high-quality fertilizer production while minimizing environmental impact.
During the visit, an interactive session was organized where students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the fertilizer industry. The experts at NFL provided valuable insights into career opportunities in the chemical and agricultural industries, which proved to be highly beneficial for the students.
