On September 24, 2024, the NSS Unit of SDS Govt College Jadla celebrated NSS Day under the able guidance of Principal Simi Johal and the supervision of Unit Coordinator Prof. Sonia. The event highlighted the commitment of the NSS to community service and social responsibility, reflecting its ultimate goal of fostering a spirit of volunteerism among students.The celebration commenced with a formal gathering of NSS volunteers and faculty members, including Prof. Hrinderjit Singh, Prof. Neha Rani, and Prof. Jaswinder Ralh. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as participants gathered to take the NSS pledge, reaffirming their dedication to serve the nation and contribute positively to society. This act not only instilled a sense of responsibility among students but also strengthened their resolve to engage actively in social initiatives.Following the pledge, a lecture was delivered on the achievements of NSS over the years.

The speaker highlighted various successful projects undertaken by NSS units across the country, emphasizing their impact on community development, health, and education. The discussion provided valuable insights into how students could engage in meaningful service and encouraged them to delve into innovative ideas for future projects. The importance of teamwork, leadership, and dedication was underscored, motivating the volunteers to pursue excellence in their service efforts.One of the key activities of the day was a cleanliness drive organized within the college premises. Students actively participated in cleaning various areas, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability. This initiative not only beautified the campus but also raised awareness about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in daily life. Participants engaged in discussions about waste management and eco-friendly practices, fostering a deeper understanding of their responsibilities towards the environment.In line with the theme of environmental conservation, the NSS unit also initiated a tree-planting drive.

Students were involved in planting saplings around the college grounds, emphasizing the crucial role trees play in combating climate change and enhancing biodiversity. Each sapling planted was a step towards a greener future, and students were encouraged to take ownership of their trees, nurturing them as symbols of their commitment to environmental stewardship.The day concluded with reflections from the participants, who shared their experiences and thoughts on the activities. Many expressed a newfound motivation to engage in community service and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in achieving greater societal impact. The event not only celebrated NSS’s rich legacy but also inspired the next generation of volunteers to carry forward its mission.
