A one-day Cleanliness Drive was organized on October 29, 2025 at Sardar Dilbag Singh Government College, Jadla, under the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unitand the able leadership of Principal Dr. Harjinder SinghThe primary objective of this drive was to promote the values of cleanliness, hygiene, and civic responsibility among students and staff members. The event sought to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment, in line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative. It also aimed to cultivate a spirit of teamwork and social service among the youth, reinforcing the role of educational institutions as catalysts for community development.
The drive witnessed the active participation of NSS volunteers, students, and members of the NSS Committee including Mrs. Neha Rani, Mr. Harinderjit Singh, and Mr. Jaswinder Ralh, who guided and motivated the volunteers throughout the activities. The event commenced with a briefing session conducted by the NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. Sonia. who outlined the objectives and significance of the cleanliness campaign. Under her supervision, teams of volunteers were assigned to different areas of the college, including classrooms, corridors, laboratories, lawns, and the surrounding premises. The students diligently cleaned the classrooms, removed litter from pathways, trimmed the overgrown bushes, and collected waste for proper disposal. The college lawns were beautified, and dustbins were strategically placed to promote waste segregation.A motivational address was delivered by Principal Dr. Harjinder Singh, who praised the NSS Unit for its dedication and highlighted that cleanliness reflects not only environmental care but also inner discipline and collective responsibility.
He encouraged the students to adopt cleanliness as a lifelong habit and to extend this initiative beyond the college boundaries to their homes and communities. Mrs. Sonia the NSS Programme Officer, also appreciated the enthusiasm of the volunteers and emphasized that every small act of cleanliness contributes to a larger culture of environmental respect and social well-being.The cleanliness drive concluded successfully, leaving the college campus rejuvenated and the participants enriched with a deeper sense of civic duty. The initiative fostered teamwork, environmental awareness, and a spirit of community service encouraging students to take pride in maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings. In his concluding remarks, Principal Dr. Harjinder Singh commended all participants for their tireless efforts and reiterated that cleanliness is a continuous process that strengthens both personal and societal well-being. The event stood as a shining example of unity, discipline, and responsibility—values that form the foundation of holistic education at Sardar Dilbag Singh Government College, Jadla.
