SDS Government College Jadla, SBS Nagar celebrated World Health Day on 7 April 2026 in the Seminar Hall under the able guidance and dynamic leadership of Principal Prof. Dr. Harjinder Singh. The programme was organized by the NSS Unit of the college under the theme “Together for Health — Stand with Science”, aiming to create awareness about the importance of health, hygiene, and scientific approaches to healthcare.
The programme began with a warm welcome to the Principal, faculty members, and students. The stage was conducted by Dilpreet Kaur of B.A. 2nd Year, who introduced the theme and highlighted the significance of World Health Day and the importance of adopting scientific approaches for maintaining good health.
Students Rama, Anima, and Dilpreet presented their views on the importance of health and also discussed the history and significance of World Health Day celebration. They emphasized that good health is essential for a better life and encouraged students to follow healthy habits such as regular exercise, balanced diet, and proper hygiene. They also stressed that scientific advancements in healthcare play an important role in preventing diseases.
Mrs. Parvinder, from the History Department, delivered an informative speech on hygiene, balanced diet, and healthy food habits. She emphasized maintaining cleanliness and adopting healthy lifestyles. She also stressed the importance of treating diseases on a priority basis and spreading awareness about preventive healthcare.
Mrs. Sonia, NSS Nodal Officer, addressed the gathering and spoke about mental health awareness. She highlighted the importance of mental well-being and encouraged NSS volunteers to spread awareness regarding health and hygiene in the community. She motivated volunteers to actively participate in awareness campaigns and community service.
The event was attended by faculty members including Dr. Baljit Kaur, Mrs. Neha Rani, Dr. Priyanka, Mrs. Paramjit Kaur, and Mr. Harjinder Singh, whose presence motivated the students and made the programme successful. Near about 50 students actively participated in the programme.The programme concluded with the message that health is wealth and collective efforts are required to build a healthy society. The celebration successfully created awareness among students about adopting scientific approaches towards healthcare and promoting physical, mental, and social well-being.
